Empowering Education and Training in SCRH

Education plays an important role in achieving organizational goals through a combination of organizational and workforce interests.

Nowadays, training is an essential factor contributing to greater efficiency of the staff and organizations. Furthermore, the most important reason to provide further training and education to employees is to ensure that work skills stay current. Keeping employees up-to-date with the latest evidence-based practices is a way to improve care efficiency.  Here in SCRH, we have a lot of ongoing in-service training: rounding education, CME accredited training, in-house training (e.g., Preceptorship Training), night teachings conducted by staff and respiratory therapists these allow the entire staff to gain the same level of knowledge at their workplace and enables every member of the team to deliver safe, effective and high-quality patient care.  Active participation of nurses and respiratory therapists in in-service training can lead to effective learning and development in their field of work.

As our facility is now American Safety Health Institute (ASHI) accredited, we are conducting in-house Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) courses every month led by our instructors Dr. Sami Arfaoui and Sheena Rose Doloiras.  This helps the team to respond efficiently in a life-threatening situation.

Safety in healthcare is everyone’s responsibility and education and training can break down barriers to providing safe care, creating an environment where all staff learns from incidents, patients at the center of care are treated with dignity, openness, and honesty, and where staff is trained to focus on patient needs and quality of life. As the Clinical Resource Nurse of SCRH, my goal in education training and development programs is to offer opportunities for the staff to improve their skills, enhance employee productivity and improve company culture.
