Long-Term Care

salma (SCRH) provides a variety of services which help meet both the medical and non-medical needs of our residents who suffer from chronic illness or disability and who cannot be cared for in their home environment. We focus on individualized and coordinated services that promote independence, maximize patients’ quality of life and meet patients’ needs.

Providing a complex level of medical care for ventilated patients with multiple chronic conditions, requires highly skilled staff. Long-term care also provides custodial and non-skilled care; assisting with ADLs like dressing, feeding, and toileting. Long-term care with the younger population includes both their physical and cognitive needs being met.

Developmental delays are common with children who have spent a large aspect or all their lives in an acute hospital setting; premature neonates, long term illness, severe trauma patients. Sensory stimulation provides many benefits such as increased communication, environmental awareness, relaxation, cognitive stimulation, opportunity to build a rapport, enjoyment of a leisure experience, increased quality of life and much more.

Patients who may not always improve or develop physically have the opportunity and availability to develop in other aspects and domains of their lives. At salma Hospital residents will enjoy progress in quality of life. This will also enhance the family integration and involvement in the resident’s life experience.

VENTILATED PATIENT CARE

Creating a home-like environment for patients whose daily activities are restricted by constant need to be attached to a machine. Patients with complicated medical histories require skilled, attentive staff and constant observational care. Our care gives them the possibility to improve quality of life with a progressive plan for weaning if possible.

NON-VENTILATED PATIENT CARE

Patients not requiring full ventilation assistance who might still need assistive help with breathing and often have complicated medical backgrounds. Such cases require specific care-plans to promote abilities and health. We create individual plans combining therapies with medical care to create an environment for recovery where possible, and better the quality of life for all patients.

Outpatient

The salma Family; Pediatric focused rehabilitation aiming to have each child gain their full potential through the best care and therapies. We identify the developmental possibilities in each child and facilitate abilities progression. This is achieved through Evidence Based Practice, extensive and wide experience and a caring professional attitude to create an environment that supports and enhances skills by finding the right continuation of life experiences for each child.
Primary focus is on early development as a base for all learning to support overcoming the developmental delays. The most common early intervention services are physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, and occupational therapy and often therapists combine the sessions to streamline and arrange more comprehensive therapy.
Early feeding experiences are important, and we assist in all aspects of the breastfeeding phase to gain the most benefit in growth, social and cognitive development with “Golden Nutrition”. In alternative cases, our in-house Dietitian works closely with Pediatrician to achieve optimal nutrition for each child in every phase of growth.
