Dr. Bassam Abdelmonem Abdelaziz Abd El Monem Abd El Aziz Hamama completed his MBBCh from the Faculty of Medicine at Cairo University – Cairo, Egypt in 1990, graduating with excellent distinction. In 1997, he earned his Master’s Degree in Pediatrics from the Faculty of Medicine at Cairo University. In 2005, he obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH), London, UK.
Dr. Bassam began his medical journey as a House Officer at Cairo University Hospital in 1991. From 1992 to 1993, he served as a Pediatrics and Neonatology Resident at Matareya Teaching Hospital – Cairo, where he received early exposure to PICU and NICU care. He continued his residency at Menouf Hospital in Egypt and then Uniza Hospital in Saudi Arabia, where he focused on neonatal care.
From 1999 to 2003, he worked as a Specialist in Pediatrics and Neonatology at Al Shifa Hospital – Makkah, Saudi Arabia. He then joined Al Noor Specialist Hospital – Makkah, a major tertiary facility, as a Specialist in Pediatrics, PICU, and NICU from 2003 to 2008. In 2008, he moved to the UAE and served for over a decade as a Senior Pediatric Specialist at Mafraq Hospital – Abu Dhabi, a leading government hospital, managing complex pediatric and PICU cases and engaging in medical education for residents and university students.
In 2019, Dr. Bassam joined NMC Provita International Medical Center – Abu Dhabi, where he provided high-level care for ventilator-dependent pediatric patients in a subacute PICU environment. From 2021 onward, he returned to Egypt and served as Consultant in Pediatrics and Pediatric ICU at 6 October Central Hospital – Giza, a major government facility equipped with a 9-bed PICU.
Currently, Dr. Bassam is a Specialist Pediatrician at Salma Rehabilitation Hospital – Abu Dhabi, where he continues to provide expert care for chronically ill children, including those requiring long-term ventilation and complex multidisciplinary management.
Dr. Bassam’s areas of expertise include pediatric intensive care, neonatal resuscitation, mechanical ventilation (including HFOV, CPAP, BiPAP), advanced life support, and emergency pediatric procedures such as intubation, chest tube insertion, and PEG tube management. He is also actively engaged in infection control, clinical education, and quality improvement initiatives.
Dr. Bassam is licensed by the Egyptian Medical Syndicate as a Consultant Pediatrician and previously held a Department of Health (Abu Dhabi) license as a Pediatric Specialist. He is currently processing re-registration as a Consultant in the UAE. He speaks Arabic and English.
